NYC, Day 37…Don’t ask why I was in Bedstuy but on my random excursion to the area (well, it was actually Clinton Heights), I came across this restaurant/bar called Basil and had a beautiful Chardonnay and the best fries I’ve ever had in my life! (Okay, well maybe not the best, but fairly close….:-)
NYC, Day 36…I went on the hunt for vintage stuff in the East Village and while I didn’t cop any clothes, I ended up buying a snazzy pair of glasses from Fabulous Fanny’s (335 East 9th Street, between 1st and 2nd Ave!).
NYC, Day 35…Friday evening, Union Square (II) - This trio of street performers killed it this evening; I felt no way handing over a couple of dollars to show my appreciation (peep the video to see them at work!)
NYC, Day 35…Friday evening, Union Square (I) - The New York Clown Theatre festival kicked off today and I was there to see a host of the colourful artists rally the crowd into a parade around the square. The kids absolutely ADORED them!
NYC, Day 34…I stumbled up Emack & Bolios, a very creative ice cream parlour in SoHo - and I’m so glad I did! They got some pretty eclectic flavours and cones (like the Rice Krispie cone I had with a scoop of Cosmic Crunch) and I imagine I’ll be going back for their famous milkshakes and smoothies!
NYC, Day 33…There’s a gorgeous Italian spot in Harlem called Tonalli’s on 3628 Broadway (149th Street) and they serve some DIVINE dishes. My gosh. I had the house salad today (lettuce, olive, bell peppers, grilled chicken and feta cheese in lemon oil dressing - WOOOOO!), but I really wanted what my friend had (turkey panini with fries!).
NYC, Day 32…If you don’t know this by now, taxis in New York are dirt cheap. Like, seriously. Fast, convenient and a must if you’re a lady and you’re bringing your heel game (Disclosure: I’ve already stumbled down a small flight of steps on the subway - got a cut and EVERYTHING! - because I was trying to be super-thrifty. Foolish, foolish me.) I’ve probably caught about 4 or 5 this past month and haven’t spent more than $10. Yep.
NYC, Day 31…For the record, I’m not a party chick, but there’s ALOT of parties and events happening in New York on a regular basis (and mid-week too, something which has totally messed up the British in me lol) Tonight’s affair was held at Slate NYC (54 W 21st Street) to mark the new John Legend/The Roots album, and although they weren’t there, a singer named Steph Jones was instead. He was good too!
